The synthetic GFP mRNA (EGFP mRNA) expresses the enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP) when transfected into mammalian cells. The EGFP protein is a common reporter that emits bright green fluorescence when excited. It has an excitation/emission spectra of 488/509 nm.
